Do Not Be Anxious

by | Mar 6, 2026 | Devotionals

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Matthew 6:34 ESV

There’s a lot going on in the country and world this week! I encourage us all toward a few things.

First, I encourage you to pray for our governing leaders. We’re commanded to this in 1 Timothy 2:1-4. Pray for wisdom and proper restraint. Pray for decisions at home and abroad that lead to greater liberty and peace in the world. Pray for persecuted Christians in Iran who are now living through additional hardship, hopefully on the way to religious liberty after so many years of Islamic oppression. Pray for our little church to stay focused on Jesus, the author and the one who will bring our faith to completion.

With many conflicting and irreconcilable worldviews in the marketplace of ideas, may we gladly come under the Lordship authority of Jesus. Let us seek first the eternal things of the Kingdom of God, and trust the Lord with our anxieties (Matthew 6:25-34).

Second, I encourage you to listen to clear and non-inflammatory news sources. Thinking clearly about the world and its events requires accurate information. Facts and opinion are not the same thing. All information is reported from a perspective. As Christians, we should seek reporting from a Christian worldview. I recommend the daily news podcast “The World and Everything In It.” This is a trusted source of clear facts, thoughtful commentary, and opinions from a Christian evangelical  perspective. Give it a listen! It’s good to stay informed but not be distracted from daily living.

May the Lord help us all to be steady in our Christian faith, content with what we have, hopeful for the future, and courageous to speak the Gospel with love!
