In the Aspire Monday night Christian leadership class, we are studying Christian ethics this semester. Part of the class involves student presentations. This past week John Sullivan presented on “lying.” Using our words to speak the truth and speak in such a way that honors the Lord is one of the most complicated of all ethical issues. The closer we look at this issue, the more nuance and complication we find. Our speech is an area we are constantly needing God’s help in and an area we find ourselves regularly confessing sin.

The class is taught in a collegial lecture and discussion format. After John’s excellent presentation, I follow-up with a few remarks.
